Hi, my name is Beneyam Hassen, and I'm an Artist.
There's not much to say about who I am; I'm still deciding, I'll know with my last breath. My work is evidence of that process, of the change in myself and in the world.
I'm a social documentarian. I photograph what goes unnoticed — the small actions that push the larger story along.
I was born to Ethiopians in a Djiboutian refugee camp. My father is a stumpy, tea-loving man. My mother is an avid conversationalist. I was raised in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, USA.
